Seconda giornata di gara al Quiksilver Pro New York e secondo colpo di scena (il primo è stata l’assenza “ingiustificata” di Dane Reynolds al primo round). Bobby Martinez, dopo aver passato la sua heat del secondo round, durante l’intervista canonica non risparmia parole offensive verso il Tour ASP. Risultato: squalificato dal contest. Per il resto tutto nella norma, con i favoriti che tornano ai propri posti, Mick Fanning, Owen Wright, Adrian Buchan, Patacchia, D.Hobgood, De Souza si riprendono il posto nel main event, mentre l’eroe locale Balaram Stack, nonostante abbia richiamato ampie folle sulla spiaggia, non riesce ancora a esprimersi davanti al grande pubblico. Drammatica la heat tra Flores e Pires, amici di team, finita con la vittoria del francese.

Katia ha continuato a pompare la swell con set fino a due metri e previsioni di ulteriore aumento per oggi, quando si riprenderà con le rimanenti heat del terzo round (le prime quattro sono già state disputate), eccetto quella di Slater che passa automaticamente al quarto round, grazie alle dichiarazioni di Martinez.
